Finally the wait is just about over and you’ll be able to catch Jesse in the movie Joyful Noise.
He is playing the role of Marcus Hill who will be Vi Rose Hill’s (Queen Latifah) husband. By the looks of these pictures he will be playing a U.S soldier. Hopefully this won’t mean Marcus will be away on combat for the entire duration of the movie!
We’d like to see quite a bit of screen time for Mr. Martin!
Joyful Noise is released to cinema’s in the U.S on January 13.
For now, enjoy these photographs and this interview with Jesse. To see the pictures in full size just click on them!
More information and pictures will be posted here as it is released.
In the meantime, if you happen to go and see the movie, please leave your review in the comments section below… if you haven’t seen the movie and just want to leave a comment sharing your views or opinions about anything Jesse L Martin related, please feel free!

News & Updates:
Tail ‘Tale’ upon us – Ny Post
Let’s start with the good news, shall we? The good news is that Jesse L. Martin gallery has been updated with some new photos. This is a work in process, so please keep checking back, there’s a bunch more left to add but it just takes some time.
The bad news is, if you haven’t heard already that Jesse’s new show by Marc Cherry (Hallelujah) was not picked up and unfortunately we won’t be seeing it any time soon. It’s very disappointing because the storyline seemed pretty interesting and a bit different to the usual run-of-the-mill TV show. Maybe one day soon we’ll see it picked up by another channel.
In other news though, Jesse is working on a movie called Joyful Noise with Queen Latifah which will be released early next year!
On to the pictures…
2 x Photos – Misbehavin’ In Harlem, May 12, 2011
12 x Photos – Tribeca Film Festival for the Premiere of Puncture, April 21, 2011
3 x Photos – 37th Annual NAACP Image Awards, February 26, 2006
There will be a heap more photos coming soon as well as a bunch of other stuff and I apologise for the wait between updates. Life sometimes gets in the stupid way of updating!
Rent, the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical by Jonathan Larson, is officially headed back to the New York stage. The production, which is being helmed by original Rent director Michael Greif, set dates this summer at off-Broadway’s New World Stages. Broadway.com asked Jesse L. Martin, who played Tom Collins in the original company as well as the movie adaptation, about the musical’s return to the boards.
“I think it’s amazing! I want Rent to last forever,” Martin exclaimed and then added, “I’m a little shocked, to be honest, that’s it going to be back so soon, and that Michael Greif is directing it again. But if anybody can do it, he can. It’ll be interesting to see how it’s retold.”
Martin noted that the world has changed since Rent’s premiere at off-Broadway’s New York Theatre Workshop on January 26, 1996 (it moved to Broadway in April of that year). “It’s definitely a period piece now,” the actor, who just landed a new TV pilot, told Broadway.com, “but the music is timeless and absolutely beautiful. I think it’s going to stick around for a really, really long time. There are constantly new productions—it’s happening all over the world, so go Rent!”

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 18 (UPI) — Actor Jesse L. Martin has signed on to star in a musical drama pilot called “Hallelujah,” The Hollywood Reporter said.
The project is headed up by “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry for ABC. It is about a Tennessee town where the forces of good and evil are at war, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
Martin is best known for his work on TV’s “Law & Order,” as well as in the movie musical “Rent.”
Bobby Cannavale, Jesse L. Martin and More Roll One for Second Stage
“I’m not a good bowler, I’ve never been a good bowler, I will likely never be a very good bowler,” admitted Bobby Cannavale who, along with other A-list actors, captained a team of lucky donors at Second Stage’s 24th annual All-Star Bowling Classic at Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge on February 7.
Fresh off his first day of rehearsals for Broadway’s The Motherf**ker with the Hat, the actor wasn’t expecting to lead his team to victory, but he did have a more reasonable goal in mind. “I’m hoping to walk away with the award for ‘Most Spirited’ again,” he said of the accolade he took home at last year’s event. “I have that up on my bookshelf, and I’m really proud of it.”
So who was going to walk away the night’s big winner? “I’m lookin’ at Anthony Mackie,” Second Stage alum Dylan Baker told Broadway.com. “Come on, he was on the cover of Vanity Fair, now he’s going to come in here and destroy the place.”
I hope that everybody stayed safe during Christmas-time and the New Year and had a very happy and festive time.
It’s still seems a little bit uncertain whether or not Jesse will resume his role of Gratiano in The Merchant of Venice on Broadway along with the new and remaining cast on February 1st, but let’s keep our fingers crossed!
In regards to this website, I’ve just uploaded quite a few images from NBC’s The Philanthropist where Jesse starred alongside the very handsome James Purefoy and the lovely Neve Campbell. Please click below on the following image to be taken straight to the gallery.
